Gaziantep

Gaziantep is one of the great melting pots of civilizations. It, therefore, comes as no surprise that this city features incredible traditions, stunning history, and so much more. It is the sixth largest city in Türkiye and its roots go back more than 10,000 years to reflect the power of Mesopotamia.

Since 2015 Gaziantep belongs to the UNESCO Creative Cities Network in the category of "Gastronomy." The Gaziantep kitchen has a special influence on Turkish cuisine with its rich flavors found in soups, pilafs, kebabs, and meatballs. As the center of Türkiye’s pistachio cultivation and with its extensive olive groves and vineyards, Gaziantep is one of the country’s most important produce and food centers.

Gaziantep is the largest trade and industrial center in the west of Türkiye’s Southeastern Anatolia region and a well-developed city in terms of agriculture, industry, and commerce. The local pistachios are so famous that they have lent their name to the word for pistachio in Turkish (Antep fıstığı, "Antep nut").

Vineyards and olive orchards are also important. Manufacturing activities in Gaziantep are mainly carried out by small scale enterprises. As a vivacious industrial and commercial center, Gaziantep has cement, textile, leather, shoemaking, soap, woodworks, metal, and machinery industries and workshops. It maintains its status as an export gate with the 120 different products it exports to 40 countries.
